EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a well-rounded education is the key to cultivating our youth to becoming the leaders of their communities. This includes education in different cultures, literature, and our local, national, and world history. Through learning that leads to critical thinking and the ability to create personal opinions and interests our youth will be able to prosper and lead their local communities.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I was the Valedictorian with a 4.0 GPA in high school. After graduation, I attended East Tennessee State University where I graduated with a B.A. degree while majoring in History and minoring in English in 2012. I graduated from East Tennessee State University in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Education specializing in Educational Media and Library.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been working for a grant-funded after-school program for at-risk students since October of 2007. During this time I have worked with students ranging from K-12 in subjects as diverse as computer technology to life in the Roman Empire. I completed my student teaching for my Master’s program at a K-4 school and a 5-8 Middle School in Library/Media.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an avid reader, mostly of historical non-fiction and historical fiction, enjoy researching differing topics about our culture, and also enjoy traveling. My favorite destinations to travel to are places that are new to me and my family.
