EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that every student has potential and it is my job as an educator to help the student realize the potential. Additionally, I feel that teaching is not just about what you teach, it is also about the small things that you do, such as listening to students and being willing to help. As a teacher, it is my job to create model citizens for the future.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have an Hons. BA in English, a B.Ed., and I went to a school for the arts for both high school and elementary school. I have extensive music training, although I do not hold a music certification. In my teaching courses, one main focus was use of media in education along with differentiated instruction and the importance of choice in education along with allowing students to play an active role in their education experience.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught on a reserve in Northern Saskatchewan, at a Catholic Board school in Northern Alberta, and I have tutored a special needs student on the autism spectrum.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have been in several plays both as an actor and a musician. I have played violin in several orchestras. I have also volunteered in the past with Sexual Assault Center London, Community Living London and St. Joseph’s Health Centre in a variety of positions.
