EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

The most effective education is meaningful, and therefore, relevant. Hence, educators must strive to develop a relationship between the subject matter they teach and the students to whom they teach it. This perspective gives students confidence and motivation to be successful lifelong learners.

It is the duty of the educator to search for and guide students in diligent patience in the process of finding the most effective means by which they comprehend a subject and still appreciate those means in which they are weakest, engendering more independent learners.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I earned a B.A. with a double major in English and history from Nicholls State University. I subsequently earned a M.A. in liberal arts at Louisiana State University.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught a variety of courses in both middle and high school for the last twelve years. The subject areas I have taught include English, pre-algebra, algebra I and II, geometry, advanced math, physical science, physics, biology, chemistry, religion, philosophy, and computer literacy.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

As an undergraduate, I was the president of the Nicholls State University chapter of Phi Alpha Theta (a national history organization), Clio, (a history club which I also founded), and the English Society.
Additionally, I was the treasurer and vice-president of Pi Mu Epsilon (a national math organization). I have also volunteered with the Lafourche parish council on Aging’s “Sharing the Gift of Reading” literacy program. I was also on the staff of “Mosaic”, the official literacy magazine of Nicholls State University.
