EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe students should be given the tools, and the opportunity to construct their own knowledge. Through participating in the conversation of differing theories, and strategies, and reflecting upon personal experiences, students construct their own understandings of new information.
Students are able to challenge and reorganize ideas, values, and practices through personal experience with new ideas.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education at Western Michigan University and then went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Reading Education at the same institution. I currently hold a teaching license in the state of Michigan.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have experience teaching students in both elementary and university settings. I have experience teaching students with diverse learning abilities. I enjoy tailoring lessons to fit the needs of individual students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I like to spend time with my family, and volunteering to teach reading. I also enjoy reading non fiction books, particularly history, cooking healthy food and running with my dog, a black lab.
