Every student can learn and succeed if approached with strategies that work for them and patience from both parties to find that approach. My favorite quote on teaching comes from Albert Einstein, “Everyone is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend it’s whole life thinking it is stupid.”
I received a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Southwest Texas State University in 2002. Later, I did a Master’s program for certification in Curriculum and Instruction, which I finished in June of 2007.
I have 6 full years of classroom teaching experience, and 4 years of tutoring experience. Most of my experience comes from the areas of science and math, but I have taught ELA for many years as well. For example, I had a student who was struggling with math my first year of teaching. By working with him, his parents, and collaborating with other professionals at my school, we were able to not only get him above level in math, but he received a commendation on his standardized test that year.
I like to fill my personal time reading, watching movies, shopping, listening to music, attending live sporting events, and hanging with my family. I also greatly enjoy traveling to new places. I love the feeling of boarding an airplane for a brand new destination.
