EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe every child is capable of learning successfully when met where they are and given high but achievable expectations. I believe that we should educate the whole child and that social and emotional education are just as important as academics, the arts, and physical education. I believe that the education of children requires all of the adults in the child’s life to act as a team.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I attended Illinois State University and obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education. At ISU I was very involved in the Education Department completing an Independent Study with an Education Professor and serving on an Education Extracurricular. I also Student Taught for a full year at the Laboratory School on ISU’s campus with a Golden Apple Winning Veteran Teacher.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
After graduating from college I went on to teach first grade for six years, three at a public Charter School and three at a private Christian School. At the private school I wrote a lot of my own standards based curriculum following the Project Approach to learning.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy reading anything and everything. I spend a lot of time home and around the city with my toddler son who is growing and changing each day. Knitting and Crocheting take of some of my free time. I also am very involved in my church.
