EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Critical thinking is the foundation of my philosophy. This includes respect and creating a good life for students. All of us want to be inclusive, that’s obvious, but how to actually do this is another matter entirely. It was important for me to spend a bit of time at the beginning of a lesson to actually talk with the people in my class, get to know them a little better, see what they love about school and do not love, and ask them what they want to do.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy. Following this, I obtained my British Columbia teaching certification. I am certified to teach grades kindergarten to grade twelve in British Columbia.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught grade eight and nine students in English and Social Studies. I have also volunteered at the after school homework clubs at the schools I have taught at. As such, I have experience with encouraging and teaching at risk students. I also have experience with ELL students and First Nations advocates and students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I enjoy staying physically active in my spare time. This includes going to the gym, going for long walks, and taking gym classes.
