EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
As an educator, I want to inspire my students to be lifelong learners – opening doors to the exciting world around them. I want to create an environment that excites students about learning and, at the same time, allows them to develop their confidence and self-esteem.
By providing and atmosphere of acceptance and understanding, I want to empower children to express their ideas and opinions. I want to foster a leaning environment that encourages adaptability and flexibility so that my students will gain the skills they need to succeed and flourish in a constantly changing world.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Windsor and another Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the same university. I then went on to pursue an Education Degree at the University of Ottawa and am currently a certified teacher in the province of Ontario.
My Bachelor of Education has a Primary/Junior (K-6) focus and I have extensive knowledge of curriculum design and delivery. I have attended a number of workshops and value being current in my profession.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
With 10 years of teaching experience, I am well equipped to create an enjoyable learning environment for students while building on their strengths as they work on areas that require additional support.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my spare time, I enjoy tennis, travel, and giving back to my community – most recently through Habitat for Humanity. Living abroad has given me the opportunity to have a broader perspective of the world and appreciate the differences and similarities in people I have the pleasure of meeting. From a creative standpoint, I have most recently completed space planning and materials coursework in Interior Design.
