California Tutors

Teaching is the ability to translate subjects into a language that students can understand. Every student learns differently. It’s our ability to identify that, and adjust our teaching accordingly. Every student has the ability to learn.
I believe that all students learn in different ways and my job as a teacher is to find that way. I think that every student can succeed if they have the right guidance and know how. I believe that encouragement and hard work are two key elements to success and I plan on showing each and every student it’s possible.
Learning should be fun. It should be flexible, but still have parameters. Students should be able to connect with what they learn and understand the implications education has on their realities and the world as a whole.

Chalk Talk: How to Set Up your Study Space

Where you study greatly impacts the way you study. Unproductive study sessions occur in places that do not allow for concentration. Having a TV turned on, chatting with your friend or surfing the internet are factors that can contribute to a decrease in concentration. Places without distractions and noise, such as a library or study hall, will allow you to focus on the material you need to learn with sufficient concentration. It is also good practice to use the same study location for succeeding study sessions to allow your mind to associate the study space to productive studying.

It is important that you only bring the studying aids you need to a study session. Having unnecessary materials, such as your phone, can be very distracting and this takes away the productivity of the session. A computer can be a very powerful studying tool, however it can also be a very strong distraction. It is a good practice to use a timed website blocker application to block social media and entertainment websites for the duration of the study period. Using old-fashioned paper and pen may sometimes lead to a more effective study session than taking notes on a computer.
