We are all learners and every person should have multiple opportunities to experience the success of academic “aha moments.” A real educator is good at ensuring that what the student expects to produce aligns with what a student learns happen more frequently than not.
All students deserve the chance to get an education. For some, this proves to be more challenging than for others. I want to be able to help those students grow and accomplish their goals. I want to enjoy the time with my students and make sure they enjoy learning.
I believe each student has the potential to go to a post-secondary institution and become positive citizens in the community. Student learning begins with hands-on activities, student-centered activities and one-on-one attention. My goal for each of my students is to become a self advocate and a life long learner.

Chalk Talk: How School Districts Inform Parents about Their Curriculum

With the emergence of the Common Core Standards and school districts paying extra attention to communicating with parents, most school districts regularly update and post information about their curriculum on their websites. They may give an overview of their curriculum as a whole and their academic philosophy as well as descriptions of individual content areas. This is particularly important in the Common Core era, where there are drastic changes such as a more rigorous curriculum, more writing, an increase in more complex informational texts being read, topics being taught and learned in greater depth in math, more problem solving, etc. To parse out each content area and grade level, school districts will develop curriculum maps and guides that break down subjects into units. These may include the relevant standards, the learning goals or objectives, the essential questions that guide the unit, the learning activities that students are engaged in, the enduring understandings that are expected to be gained, the skills that students should acquire, the materials and resources that are needed, and how students are assessed.
