About Me
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Education should prepare the student for life by teaching life-long skills and thinking habits.
A liberal arts curriculum, carried out through close personal interactions, fosters the growth of the mind at maximum levels. A foreign language education should be carried out through a combination of immersion and drills, allowing the speaker to use the language in an appropriate setting and fine-tuning the necessary grammatical skills that accompany the acquisition of a language.
An appreciation of language is created by learning not only the language, but also the culture, of the target language population.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I completed my Bachelor Degree at Temple University, majoring in French and Spanish language and literature and graduated cum laude. I gained a further appreciation of Spanish culture through a study abroad experience in Oviedo, Spain.
In addition, I am continuing my education at Liberty University, seeking a Master of the Arts in Teaching, with an endorsement in Spanish K-12. Throughout both programs, I have written exemplary compositions in English, Spanish, and French.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught preschool for nearly one year, with plans to integrate Spanish into a program for children aged three to four. I have informally taught through volunteer experiences at a local church with younger children.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my spare time, I enjoy reading both popular fiction, as well as thought-provoking works of non-fiction and books in Spanish and French. I communicate regularly with a native of Toledo, Spain to keep fresh in my knowledge of Spanish culture. I participate in a local small group for church. More recently, I have begun experimenting with various recipes and entertaining guests.
