EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Good comprehension of the written word, and the ability to translate technical information to easily grasp concepts is the key to literacy. A high level of language knowledge and a technical vocabulary are essential tools to communicating effectively. Patience and repetition of the material are required, even with learning that utilizes new technology. One-on-one teaching is extremely beneficial for all students, not just those who are struggling.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
My undergraduate degree was in history with a minor in military science. I also have a master’s degree in community and regional planning. I use my educational background as part of my job. Training new volunteers is an essential part of the last 10 years of my work at Habitat for Humanity. I am responsible for organizing volunteers and ensuring that each person has the knowledge and skills they need to perform their duties in a correct and safe manner. Additionally, I organize and deliver trainings on new developments in space technology.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In addition to the teaching aspect of my job with volunteers at Habitat for Humanity, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. I am also a Solar System Ambassador with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am an amateur astronomer. I also have an interest in robotics and playing the guitar.
