As a mathematics educator, I believe learning math should be fun. Through perseverance and dedication, all students can learn once they find a learning style that works for them. Teacher?s should be flexible and be able to present material in a variety of ways to suit the needs of their students.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics From Frostburg State University and a Masters in Secondary Mathematics Education from Hood College. I have and continue to attend local, state, and national conferences to keep on the forefront as Maryland has transitioned to the Common Core State Standards and PARCC exams in an effort to meet the challenge of preparing students for college. I am currently working as the Upward Bound Coordinator. My passion is to help students gain confidence in their mathematical abilities and to support equity and access for all students to advanced classes in order to be successful in college.
I have been a secondary mathematics teacher in Maryland for ten years and have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus and Statistics. I have also been an instructor teaching SAT prep and Financial Literacy.
In my free time, I love to watch cooking shows like Top Chef, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Chopped. I enjoy spending time with my two children. In the summer I participate in a youth/adult bowling league with my children.
