My educational philosophy revolves around the student. Student centered learning means working with the student to decide specifically what they need to know or want they want to learn. Once that is decided, the motivation to learn increases.
Online learning helps students drill down to the core of the subject matter, as well as learning to take more responsibility for the actual learning of the subject matter.
My education in high school taught me that curriculum is usually decided decades before it is used by teachers. In university, I enjoyed learning in new subject areas and branched out from my major and minors into the areas of fine art, writing and teaching. The majority of my university level teaching experience is in educating other educators.
I have 20 years experience in classroom teaching. Most of my teaching experience has been with new education students. My online teaching experience includes seven years of developing curriculum, piloting programs and delivery of new online courses at the university level.
