EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Learning is ever – occurring and the learner is ever – evolving. Educators must, then, tag along on this evolutionary journey, providing guidance and assistance and scaffolding. The journey is for the learner, however, and he/she must take ownership of the experience, and (through collaboration with the teacher) fully engage in every task.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am a three- time graduate of the University of New Orleans in Louisiana. I earned a Bachelor of English, a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration. I am currently pursuing an ESL certification as well. My educational background is diverse yet complimentary.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching middle and high school since 1999 (English, Reading, Journalism). I began teaching undergraduate students in 2006 after I earned my doctorate. I then began facilitating doctoral dissertation writing courses and serving as committee mentor and/or member in 2009. I look forward to many more years of diverse educational experience.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my spare time, I am a NETA Certified Personal Trainer, Writer, and I study the Bible. I own a small company, Baker Education & Training Services, aimed at creating programs for academic and physical wellness. I am the mother of three college students and one high school senior. My stepdaughter is entering middle school, and my granddaughter is entering kindergarten. Therefore, I am providing tutoring services on many levels outside of my professional capacity.
