About Me

SUBJECTS

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I motivate students to take control over their own learning. I believe that all students have the ability to achieve academic success, they just need the right tools and support.

I take pride in teaching students at their own, individual pace and helping them set their own goals. With the help of a teacher/tutor that is creative, motivated and supportive, students will be sure to excel academically.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education, majoring in English and minoring in Communication and Theatre Arts.

I worked very hard in school, utilizing all of my resources and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.93 GPA. My college experience has been wonderful and has helped me network, manage my time wisely and, overall, contributed to my passion for education and academic success.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

As an education major, I completed a semester of student teaching in a high school setting, which was a very rewarding experience. I also completed of 150 pre-teaching hours in various middle school settings and have been a substitute teacher in various elementary schools. These experiences have been amazing, in that I have been able to work with different age groups and children with different needs and learning styles.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

While pursing my college degree, I have committed myself to several different volunteer programs – all related to education and academic success.
I am a co-founder and curriculum chair for an organization (Project F.L.I.) that coordinates workshops in low-income school districts to promote higher education.

I have also worked for Upward Bound, which has a similar mission, and Mentor2Youth, where I tutored and mentored several different students on a one-on-one basis.
