EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The aim of education for me has been to motivate myself in being a more enlightened and informed citizen of the global society. Hence, I have always believed and practiced self-education and challenging myself to learn and acquire more.I believe that open-mindedness and reasoning are key to achieving success in the field of sciences.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned my high school degree in 2012 with majors in biology, chemistry and mathematics. Thereon, I pursued first and second year science and math courses at Douglas College to attain my Associates of Science Degree with a Gold Cord and a GPA of 3.75 and a scholarship for academic excellence.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have tutored first and second year biology and chemistry, and first year mathematics to college students as part of my job at Douglas College Learning Centre for 8 months. Part of my job was to conduct exam-jam sessions to review entire course material in one session or two with 30-35 students in a classroom environment.
Apart from that, I have also offered private tutoring for the same courses and have always received positive feedback and recurring visits by students.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During my time as a student at Douglas College I was involved in New-student orientations, cultural connections program, health fair and international day celebrations. For my selfless contribution in building student engagement on-campus, I received 2 awards and nomination for Leader of the Year.
I was also the club president of DSU Punjabi Students’ Federation for a year and instructed Bhangra, organized cultural gatherings and led the club to win an award as well.
