The word ‘polygon’ is derived from Greek words poly- which means ‘many’ and -gon means ‘corner’ or ‘angle’. Polygons are closed (all the lines joined) geometric figures made of straight lines.
Types of Polygons
If all the angles and sides are equal, the polygon is called regular polygon, otherwise it is irregular.
A simple polygon has only one boundary which does not cross over itself. A complex polygon intersects itself.
A convex polygon has all its interior angels less than 180°. No angel points inward. A concave polygon has at least one interior angel greater than 180°.
