North Glengarry District Curriculum Used in Our In-Home Tutoring Programs
Students from North Glengarry are provided with an education that encompasses traditional academics as well as innovative programs developed so that students are well-prepared for post-secondary opportunities in a globalized economy. The Ontario Curriculum is a comprehensive framework that covers all these different subjects by establishing frameworks which lay out the grade-by-grade progress that students will make in their courses. The individual subjects are designed to teach students practical skills and build a knowledge base which they can reflect on which helps to establish higher-order thinking.
We currently cover the following North Glengarry-area school districts: Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario and Upper Canada District School Board.
Educating Our Parents: Understanding the North Glengarry District Curriculum
There are many programs that have been developed to support the diverse interests and talents of students. There are Language Immersion programs in which students develop bilingual and biliteracy knowledge and there are Outdoor Education programs that offer experiential, outside of the classroom, high-level scientific learning. For students in grades 11 and 12, there is also an Interdisciplinary Studies program that allows them to conduct original research that spans two or more subject areas.
More recently, Specialist High Skills Majors have been developed offering a pathway from secondary to post-secondary pursuits. In these programs, students take 8-10 courses that prepares them for work in a specific economic sector while also providing the same high school learning expectations in core subjects as students in different programs receive. These are designed to draw upon students core abilities and to enhance them with specialized knowledge which will set students apart as they move towards more competitive academic and careers.

- Adult Education - The Ministry of Education has developed programs to encompass the learning needs of all citizens in Ontario. To that end, a well-developed plan for adult education opportunities has been developed. There are programs for adults who need to acquire a secondary diploma, courses for those interested in upgrading their academic knowledge, and a range of language learning and technology learning opportunities

strategies such as problem-solving in Math, assumption testing in Science, and evaluating a point of view in English. The way
that students are able to develop higher-order thinking is by accessing what they already know so that they may analyze what
it is they are learning. Students become more aware and deeper thinkers when they employ critical thinking strategies.
