viewed as a precursor for high school students interested in joining the District’s STEM school or participating in project Lead the
Way at Westminster High School. Programs such as International Baccalaureate (IB), Career and Technical Education (CTE), and the
CenterStage Theatre Company are also available to students.

Studio School for grades K-5 provides students with extra instruction in drama, visual arts, and music and dance. Students interested
in the disciplines of mathematics and science can receive advanced education through the District’s STEM Magnet Schools for elementary

specific academic discipline while completing standard coursework.

Chalk Talk: Extracurricular Activities Can Boost Student Achievement

Most students devote many hours of rigorous studying to achieve academic excellence for future success. The importance of extracurricular activities, however, should also be viewed as an avenue to success. Many studies have demonstrated that students who participate in after-school programs or sports groups learn valuable skills related to teamwork, fundraising, and leadership. These valuable social skills can be seen as the precursor to advances in careers as diverse as marketing, technology development, and management. Students who excel both inside and outside the classroom develop skill sets that provide them with the tools to truly succeed.
