I firmly believe that education is basic human right, so that everyone has the right to a strong education. Through my own education as well as both teaching and tutoring experience, I have found that there is no single solution in learning, and that everyone learns in various ways and at different paces. Patience and creativity are therefore key in teaching, whether it be working with a preschooler or an older adult.

I graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with a minor degree in Global Poverty and Practice. I then earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Southern California with a master’s advanced certificate in International Policy and Planning. I particularly love quantitative work, and have studied how math and statistics can be applied to practical social fields.

I have been both a teacher and tutor for the past six years. I have worked with diverse groups of learners, from Spanish-speaking students in Peru, to preschoolers and high school students in Oakland, to Korean-American students in Los Angeles; these experiences have provided me with the skills necessary to use flexible and culturally-aware teaching methods with all age groups.

Outside of school and work, I like to spend my time doing Bikram yoga, hiking, cycling, and woodworking (including carving and woodburning). I also very much love the Harry Potter books!

I received an 86% on the verbal GRE.
