About Me
SUBJECTS
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I operate from a student-centered, skill-based philosophy. I believe students need to learn life long skills such as critical thinking, analysis, and thoughtful evaluation. I foster student learning, growth, and confidence through promoting student inquiry, questioning, and evaluation of the analytical process.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a 3.9 GPA for Language, Literature, and Writing. While there I tutored students from Ypsilanti Public Schools and facilitated a health education group from throughout the state.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds as well as very low to high socioeconomic backgrounds. I have worked with students that have limited resources such as access to the internet, a computer, and simple materials like notebooks, backpacks, pencils, etc. I have taught as a general education teacher, a one to one tutor, and an intervention team teacher for at risk students both one on one and in the larger classroom.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have experience in starting and facilitating both a school’s Student Council group and Newspaper club. I create a newspaper for a senior citizen group. I have volunteered to work with animal rescue groups and have fostered dogs. I have also worked in the state of Michigan on adolescent health initiatives including groups focused on domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships as well as teen pregnancy prevention and diversity awareness and acceptance.
