EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
Every person has the right to a good education. A part of this right is realizing that every student is different- they learn differently, they bring something different to the lesson, and they will take something different away than another student- and this is okay! Struggling is normal- frustration is not; it is a tutor/ teacher’s duty to help students before they get to that point. Students should feel encouraged to learn- not dread lessons.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I went to Queens University right out of high school, to complete my degree in Arts and Contemporary Studies. From there I came to the University of British Columbia to take teacher education, because I have wanted to teach for most of my life. During my undergrad, I became TESOL certified through CCELT.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am currently doing my Long Practicum for my program, and I love it. I have been tutoring for years, and while I miss the one-on-one that you get being the tutor, being in front of a class is amazing.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I was a Girl Guide for many years, before moving on to a volunteer with the program throughout high school. Most of my extracurriculars currently are keeping my body in shape by working out, and reading.
