EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I am a firm believer that all students are capable of success and that it is the important role of educators to provide a positive and supportive environment for learning and growth. Allowing students to feel safe and comfortable to ask questions are key to guiding them to self-growth. It is also important as an educator to demonstrate compassion and patience while providing support and guidance as needed.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. In the following year, I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Education degree for Intermediate/ Senior grades with the subjects Biology and General Science. I also completed an additional qualification in Special Education Part I.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Apart from my student teaching experience where I have taught in two school in the Thames Valley District School Board, I have also taught professionally at an independent school in Mississauga. There, I had various roles where I have taught as an elementary teacher, secondary teacher, supply teacher, librarian assistant and study hall supervisor. I also taught students prior to entering teacher’s college where I have volunteered and tutored at local schools, outreach programs, and music studios.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Aside from teaching and working with youth, I enjoy reading, cooking, drawing and playing music. I play the piano and have provided private music lessons in the past. I also like to stay fit where I enjoy running and hot yoga. I enjoy running races for charity during the spring/summer. I also like to travel and hope to do more in the future.
