EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I am a coach/mentor that likes to promote positive reinforcement and allowing the students to take ownership of their education. I like to elicit feedback, perspectives, and ideas from the students to help shape their goals, desires, and educational routines to allow buy-in to the tutoring process. By paying attention to details, relating to students through experiences, and maintaining accountability trough the process of learning, good results will come.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I am currently in the process of completing my dissertation for my PhD in Public Safety Leadership, specializing in criminal justice with a concentration in homeland security. I hold a masters degree in criminal justice from Boston University as well as a BA in Psychology with a minor in life sciences including many hours in biology, earth science, anatomy as well as social sciences including sociology and criminology.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am currently a field training officer in my professional capacity mentoring and coaching fellow employees. I am also a part time online academic coach for a company contracted by many universities and colleges across the country. In that capacity I mentor and coach college students through virtual classrooms. I have previously conducted in home tutoring with students ranging from 2nd to 8th grades in the areas of math, science, and language arts.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I like to do cross-fit training, ride bikes with my family, follow college and pro football, and spend time with my kids at their sporting events. Specifically I have a son dedicated to soccer and a daughter that is preparing to compete on a local gymnastics team.
