EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that educators must meet students where they are and find opportunities for each child to experience success. That said, differentiating instructing based on each child’s needs is imperative to learning. I want my students to be excited and engaged; I want them to be confident to explore the things that they don’t know, and I want them to be even more confident in the things that they do know.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English and International Business, as well as a Master’s Degree in Secondary English Education. I am currently working on a Master’s Degree in counseling. I am a certified teaching in both Missouri and Illinois.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I began my teaching career teaching 8th grade English in a suburban school district where I taught for three years. After moving out-of-state, I taught in an urban high school for a year and a half before moving back to my home state, to teach two more years of middle school English.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
As for school-based extracurricular activities, I was the head basketball coach as well as a co-sponsor for student council. On my own, I love reading – anything and everything; I take my frustrations out in a good workout; and, when I have some extra free time, I like to play around with photography.
