EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe all students are capable of success. Sometimes it just takes some hands on help and boundless encouragement mixed with experienced empathy and guidance to get them there. I am someone who is devoted to giving such help.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I earned my high school diploma at Houston High School before going on to double major in Philosophy and English Literature at the University of Memphis, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. I recently completed my first year of law school in San Francisco, but changed paths and am now pursuing a degree in Social Work.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
In college, I double majored in English Literature and Philosophy with avid additional interests in History (Ancient, American, European), Biology, and Political Science.
When I began my final year of college, I worked for my university’s Academic Enhancement Center as a certified tutor in Logic, while also gaining professional experience tutoring in English Composition and Grammar, Literature, History, and Philosophy. I worked mostly with students generally in group settings, but also gained experience working with at risk students one-on-one. The at risk students just happened to be my favorite ones. While they were certainly the most challenging, helping them break through the barrier previously preventing them from succeeding was the hands down most rewarding experience one could ask for.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In my free time, I enjoy volunteering with animal and child related non-profit services, always learning about something new, reading forever, painting (mixed media is my favorite), enjoying live music, spending time with family and friends who I am so thankful for, and traveling whenever I get the chance!
