EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I am committed to student choice and student voice in their own learning. I teach in a way which students discover, for themselves, to learn powerfully not perfectly. This allows freedom, fun, and going beyond the comfort zone. This is where the real learning happens.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Because I earned a fair amount of AP credit in high school, I was fortunate to have the choice to graduate college in three years or double major in two subjects that interested me equally: Biology and Spanish. I wisely chose to double major and because of that many doors have opened up for me since graduating from college. I had the opportunity to study abroad twice in Mexico and once in Spain. I received my Master’s of Arts degree in Spanish. Looking towards the future, I am very interested in pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Biology.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been a teacher for 13 years at both high school and middle school levels. I’ve taught Spanish (Level 1-AP), Biology, Algebra, Science for English Language Learners. I enjoy teaching because I enjoy learning!
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a ballroom and West Coast Swing dance instructor. It’s fun and challenging and I’m more alive each time!I am a ballroom and West Coast Swing dance instructor. It’s fun and challenging and I’m more alive each time!
