Heron’s formula is used to calculate the area of a triangle if all three sides are known. It is called “Heron’s Formula” after Hero of Alexandria who was a Greek Engineer and Mathematician.
According to Heron’s Formula, area of a triangle whose sides are a, b, and c is given as:

Find the area of a triangle whose sides are:
a = 5, b = 6, c = 7
s = (5 + 6 + 7)/2 = 18/2 = 9
A = sqrt[9(9 – 5)(9 – 6)(9 – 7)]
= sqrt[9(4)(3)(2)]
= sqrt(216)≈ 14.7
