Conjugate of complex number
The conjugate of a complex number z = a + bi is:
a – bi
Example:
Conjugate of 7 – 5i = 7 + 5i
Addition of Complex Numbers
Sum of two complex numbers a + bi and c + di is given as:
(a + bi) + (c + di) = (a + c) + (b + d)i
Real parts are added together and imaginary terms are added to imaginary terms.
Example:
(3 + 4i) + (5 – 6i) = (3 + 5) + (4 – 6)i
= 8 – 2i
Subtraction of Complex Numbers
Difference of Sum of two complex numbers a + bi and c + di is given as:
(a + bi) – (c + di) = (a – c) + (b – d)i
Example:
(2 + 7i) – (3 + 5i) = (2 – 3) + (7 – 5)i
= -1 + 2i
