Number line is a widely used concept in mathematics. It is used to represent, compare, add and subtract real numbers.

A number line is usually a horizontal straight line on which every point corresponds to a real number.  These points are evenly-spaced on the line extending in both the directions.

  •          The number line divided into two symmetric halves by the number zero, called the origin of the number line.
  •          The values on the right side of zero are positive and increasing.
  •          The values on the left side of zero are negative and decreasing.
  •          The number on the left is smaller than the number on the right.

Examples:

            2 is smaller than 4

          -3 is smaller -2

          -1 is smaller than 3

          -4 is smaller than 0
