About Me

I believe that helping the student to fully understand the subject at hand is the most important. Armed with understanding, the student can move readily into solving problems associated with the subject area.

I believe the best way to insure both student understanding and mastering of the subject is by working through all of the text problems that pose any challenge for the student. In the process, the student is exposed to the techniques for problem solution that are key the achievement of the high marks the student desires. The student will get a lot of satisfaction from his knowledge that he is mastering the subject.

From a young age I wanted to become a teacher/researcher. I completed my Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering. My 30-year career in applied research and development was a continual learning experience, both for me and my junior peers that I mentored professionally.

As an under-graduate I taught laboratory classes. In graduate school I filled in some lectures for professors in my major department. During my professional career I presented several seminars in my research area, and conducted a lot of mentoring to my junior professional peers in my adopted subject of high-speed, high dynamic pressure phenomena (explosions). Currently, I tutoring students privately in a one-on-one setting.

As an undergraduate I was very active in campus politics, honor societies, and my professional fraternity. For much of my life I was an avid handball player and small sailboat racer.
