EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a teacher’s most essential role is to facilitate student’s thought process. It is key for students to understand the contents before attempting to memorize. I always explain the theories, let them digest and make sense of it, then lead them for discussion and application in problem solving.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environment & Toxicology. This degree prepared me with various science subjects from basic calculus, biology, chemistry to earth sciences and environmental politics. I then graduated with a Master’s of Science Degree in Ecology at the University of Toronto and published my research thesis.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I was a teaching assistant during my Master’s program where I independently taught lab sessions of 25-50 students for their biology courses. During undergrad, I was a lecture assistant in a environmental science camp. I have private tutoring experience with both high school and university students. I also taught marine conservation in local schools on a remote Thai island. In addition, I assisted with both lecture and practical sessions of SCUBA diving classes offered by my club.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am very outgoing and enjoy the outdoors at most of my spare time. I go hiking, cycling, kayaking and SCUBA diving when the weather permits. I am an addicted player at the Toronto Underwater Hockey Club and we attend local and national tournaments regularly.
I am also passionate about nutrition and healthy living and am a volunteer at an organic co-op kitchen and their farmer’s market. I have been highly involved with several student clubs during school years such as the UofT Peer Tutoring Club (UTPT), Harthouse Underwater Club (for SCUBA diving), and UofT Cycling Club.
