STEM 150 150 Anthony Hightower

The subject(s) I learned most from in high school currently would be in the STEM category. As most know, STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. Often times, in my opinion, people tend to learn more and apply more to their daily life if the material is enjoyable and/or they are naturally adept in that subject. I have always been great at math and it is by far my strongest and most favorite subject in school. Along with math, science, engineering, and technology follow close behind. I am currently enrolled in an engineering and technology course (Principles of Engineering through Project Lead The Way) and I have learned various types of skills such as analyzing truss’, vex robotics, and on an even simpler level, learning how to cooperate in a team setting. With my immense background in math and science (currently enrolled in AP Calculus and have completed AP Physics 1), the engineering course has become easier and easier in regards to comprehending some of the more complex material the class has to offer. All in all, math and science have shaped my education in a huge way. They have both challenged me and were used as a way to set myself up for the type of career I wish to pursue. The subjects have also taught many lessons and has built upon my teamwork and other similar skills that are very useful in any career. Pharmacy has been the only thing constantly flowing through my head because I’ve been taking medicine ever since I was a child in order to control environmental allergies. Without my natural ability in math and science along with the many lessons I’ve learned over the years from taking challenging courses, a career in pharmacy would be unseen. I have not only accomplished a great feat by understanding such difficult material but I have also set myself up for the future within the entire process.
