EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
I view each human being as a dynamic learner. I approach education from a holistic perspective. I model lifelong learning as a core value of education. I believe that learning is hard and rewarding work and that each learner is responsible for their own learning. I believe my mission as an educator is to help inspire my students to learn and help them develop the skills necessary to achieve their academic and personal goals.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I have studied and prepared for a career as an educator from an early age and began my formal training at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta. I transferred to the University of Alberta to complete my education degree and have since continued my study of education through additional personal study.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have taught and tutored in a variety of academic and non-academic environments which has given me a broad range of knowledge in the core subjects as well as an effective range of strategies to support students in their learning experiences. I have taught in GED and public school classrooms and in various community organizations. I have also tutored students privately to assist them to improve general academic performance as well as standardized testing scores.
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I have participated in a community church extensively in several cities working as a leader and teacher to adults and youth. Most recently, I oversaw a Sunday School organization responsible for ten to fifteen teachers, course development and implementation, and teacher training and support. I have also enjoyed participating in choirs, choral ensembles, and musical theater.
