About Me

SUBJECTS

EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

I would first like to say that I firmly believe that every student can learn any subject. To achieve that, I try to break the information down into smaller pieces to make it easier for students to comprehend. Also, I show students how to figure out what is the most important information so that they can more quickly master the material. I love watching a student make progress and see the “lightbulb” go off as they realize they actually get it! Because of my teaching experience, I know what kinds of questions that teachers are likely to ask on tests, and I use this information to my students’ advantage.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

I started college at the age of 15 at the University of North Texas as part of a charter program for gifted students. Afterwards, I attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a 3.6 GPA with a Bachelors of Science degree. I double majored in Biomedical Science and Psychology. While teaching in the public school system in Houston, I earned a Masters of Education degree from the University of Houston with a special focus on Science curriculum and instruction.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching as a certified teacher in 2007. I taught high school science for five years. Afterwards, I became an instructional coach and I currently mentor first and second year teachers who teach grades K – 12 all subject areas. I am responsible for managing, coaching, advising and evaluating thirty teachers yearly.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

I am interested in all kinds of crafts – painting, sewing, building furniture, needlework, photography, scrapbooking, etc. I also enjoy being outdoors, hiking, and traveling. I have a goal to visit all fifty states!

STANDARDIZED TEST RESULTS

I received a score of 1570 on my SAT test: Reading = 780 and Math = 790.
