SchoolTutoring Academy provides a comprehensive tutoring program for Grade 5 students. Our highly-qualified educators prepare specialized lesson plans for your child based on the Grade 5 state or provincial curriculum. Our certified tutors have in-class experience and are fully trained to help students with learning disabilities.
We begin our program by having one of our Academic Directors conduct a ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT of your child. Our program will cover the topics and expectations listed below in the areas of English, Math and Science.

5th Grade English Tutoring Program
By the end of the Grade, your child will be able to:
- Write a structured essay with an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion
- Read a book and write a report about the plot, the setting and the characters
- Proofread and correct their work or the work of their peers
- Perform a full presentation on a given topic using a variety of visual aids
SchoolTutoring Academy’s tutors are highly engaging and prepare exciting lesson plans to keep your child interested in the academic material. For English, your child will work on a variety of oral, reading and writing activities selected specifically to help your child with the curriculum expectations they find more challenging. Our tutors encourage students to share their ideas with others and help develop their confidence to the point where they feel comfortable presenting in front of their peers.
5th Grade Math Tutoring Program
By the end of the Grade, your child will be able to:
- Order the whole numbers from 0 to 100 000
- Compare fractions with common denominators
- Add and subtract decimal numbers
- Count money up to 1000 dollars
- Relate the 12-hour clock to the 24 hour clock
- Measure area, perimeter, volume, distance and temperature using standard units
- Determine the missing number in an equation involving simple operations
- Represent probability using fractions
Our tutors have developed a variety of visual aids to help students grasp important mathematical concepts. Our tutors will help improve your child’s ability to perform mental calculations and share various strategies used to solve word problems.
5th Grade Science Tutoring Program
By the end of the Grade, your child will be able to:
- Study the effects of human actions and technological advancements on human health
- Analyze the human body systems as well as the structure and functions of the major organs
- Determine the difference between physical and chemical change and understand the properties of matter
- Examine the impacts of energy use on society and the environment
- Investigate the different sources of energy and ways for conserving resources
Your child will work on interactive activities with their tutor that will help your child understand the systems in the body and the location and function of major organs. Your child will also learn about the impact that humans have on the environment, their ecological footprint and ways they can save energy in everyday life.
