The academic subject I learned the most from in high school is math. Ever since the beginning of my freshman year, I always struggled with this particular subject. Although, as the years passed by and I began to utilize my tutoring options to get a better grasp of what I am suppose to understand. One person who I can say is the reason I was offered to take College Algebra Honors or Statics AP for my senior year in high school is my tutor. She changed my whole perspective and understanding on how math will impact me wherever I go. My tutor known as Ms. Vidal is the women I give all my credit and success to because she always believed in me and knew one day I would be where I am today. I never imagined I would be learning at the academic math level that I am currently at now and it is the most rewarding feeling ever.
As my high school senior year is coming to an end, I now have a better understanding about my career goal in life; which is to become a doctor. I know it is going to require more math than ever. I am most willing and ready to put in the work and achieve my goal. However, before I can reach my goal, it will require of me a decade or more of an education which I know will cost me quite a bit of money. There is nothing I love more about the human body and its functions. Hard working people who want to make a difference in their community, to help people feel better about their lives, is who I want to be and is all I could ask for.
Graduation will be here in a blink of an eye and all I want is to be ready for the real world and the obstacles that I know will come. Financially it would be a true blessing to receive this scholarship to aid me in my time of need. To be able to have one less thing to worry about would mean one less obstacle. I see grants as a stepping stone to one who is underprivileged to be able to achieve their education goals. One day I hope to be able to provide grants to students in need. I don’t want to look to my mother for too much help, to burden her because I want to make her proud by doing all the steps by myself. Making those that are special to me proud and for them to witness me walking across so many stages is all I want in life. I just want the last stage that I cross to be me receiving my doctorate degree.
