High school is more than cafeteria food and research papers. High school is where friendships are formed and countless memories are made. High school is a four-year experience that begins to really prepare you for life outside of school. The best way to make the most out of your high school experience is to be involved in your time there. Whether it is a research paper, chemistry assignment, cheerleading tryout, or homecoming football game; put your best foot forward. The more you put into your high school career, the more you will get out of it. Communicate with instructors when you need assistance. Reach out to form study groups with classmates. If you work hard in class, you will receive honors and scholarships. Your GPA is something that will follow you for the rest of your life. Have fun but do not blow off your schoolwork. Get involved in clubs and teams. You will never have the opportunity to play on the high school varsity basketball, soccer, football, or cheerleading team again. You will gain friendships, valuable life lessons, and new memories. Working with your teammates will help you grow and learn how to work with others. Getting involved in events can make the lasting memories you reflect about at your ten year reunion. You will never have the chance to attend your senior prom again nor will there be any more spirit weeks in your life. Get a dress or a tuxedo. Go to prom and homecoming dances. Go with a date or with a group of friends. Dance or just stand around and chat. Dress up in tutus. Put on face paint. Yell proudly at the pep rallies. Make the memories with your classmates. Be involved in your high school experience. Amidst the lockers and whiteboards that make up a high school, you will find some of your closest friends and make some of your favorite memories if you just get involved.
