If I had to choose my college by mascot there are a few things I would want it to represent. First, the mascot would have to demonstrate and honor the values of the community that it represented. It would have to show the world that this is our community and this is who we are. The mascot could not be a simple redesign of another college. It would have to be unique. Second, the mascot would have to symbolize something. For me it would have to be honor, respect, and diversity. This mascot has a lot to live up to in this role. I want people to know they are welcome and that their thoughts and opinions are welcome. That we all do not have to agree but respect each other. And Finally, the mascot must represent the values of the US constitution. More specifically the the freedom of speech, the freedom of press, and the freedom to pursue happiness. That these things are should be embodied in the design of the mascot and its antics in community events. This is a lot for a mascot to live up to, but it is also a lot that a college has to live up to.
