If ever given the decision of choosing to go to a college based purely on their mascot, I would choose Stanford University, and their unofficial mascot of a tree. As I browsed the internet for college mascots in America, one firmly stood out to me next to the others that were mainly animals. The tree stood out to me as I immediately found symbolism within it.
A reason a simple tree seems so appealing to me is that it represents growth. Throughout life every human is constantly growing in their mind through interactions, relationships, and what they do with their time. The tree is like a human, growing with room to spread out branches and leaves, like parts of ourselves to the world. Another symbol I found as I viewed the Standford tree was that a tree has many branches, which can be used to climb up to the top. The branches can be looked at as accomplishments in not only education, but whatever one may experience while in college. This could give me hope that i am choosing a good college to attend, because i will have branches to climb as i try to reach to the top. The tree mascot would be the reason i would choose Standford University.
