What does the Struggle mean? If we guide ourselves from the dictionary meaning it simply means to have a forceful effort in which one hopes to break free of a problem or constriction. The word struggle for me has been redefined completely, throughout my life there has been both personal and academic struggles that have without a doubt shaped the person I am today. Academically speaking my sophomore math class was indeed one of the most terrifying classes. What I thought was going to be nothing but a piece of cake turned out to be nothing but sweat and tears, literally. It all began when I got sick which caused me to miss a week of school. At first I didn’t think it would be very hard to get back on track but that’s where I was wrong. I had missed so much content that I honestly didn’t know where to start. This led to procrastination and at one point I had literally given up on not only the class but myself, I was going through severe family problems and had simply convinced myself it was going to be impossible to pass this class. What I didn’t know was that I had an amazing teacher who was about to change not only my perspective towards this class but my life. What he told me might have been simple but it was exactly what I needed to hear at that moment, ” The struggle today, is building the strength for tomorrow”. Many times in life your presented with situations that at the moment may seem like it just might take the best of you not really knowing that its simply shaping you into a much stronger person. Struggles are part of life and we like it or not they will always be present in our life the question is how will you deal with it. Will you be like the others and simply cave in or will you give it your all. I gave decided to give it my all but how? Once I came to a realization that this rough patch was simply a bump on the road I began to convince myself that I couldn’t go out without putting up a fight. I fought with 2 hours of math tutoring after school, along with endless nights of studying. I had now won the fight ending the class with a B+.
