In my second year in high school, I was enrolled in Biology Honors as a sophomore. The entire course was a very demanding one. Throughout the first few classworks and graded assignments I felt confident in my ability to ace the class on my own. After my first test I realized I would need additional help. At first I was a bit skeptical about the grade because perhaps she graded incorrectly or graded the wrong test, but that did not turn out to be the case. To get my grade up I started attending after school tutoring sessions held by some of the National Honor Society kids in my school. Instantly I started noticing improvements in my graded work. After going every Monday thru Thursday, the confidence built up in me helped for me to get a higher test score. However, I still needed more help. The tutoring just was not enough. Around the middle of the school year, I finally went to my teacher to see if she would be able to offer me help. Just as I expected she told me to come in the mornings and she would be able to give me additional assistance. Now I am going every Monday and Wednesday in the mornings for additional help and still after school tutoring. As I continued to attend her morning sessions, the more I was able to comprehend the material and increase my scores. Around February, the preparation for End of Course exams began. I was comfortable on how I was doing in the class, but I wanted a little extra cushioning. I asked my teacher what she would recommend to help me besides reading the 600 page book and doing her 30 page study guide. She recommended I go on Youtube and watch a series named Crash Course: Biology, and utilize Khan Academy to brush up on my skills. I did this in addition to the tutoring before and after school until mid- April. I passed the class with an A- average and passed my End of Course exam with a score of 4 out of 5.
