School tends to be super hard for some, and not so hard for others. However, at some point in time everyone struggles with certain topics. My struggling points tended to be science or history. Memorizing every little detail is what caused most of the problems, but I persevered through and came out at the end with A’s. Normally my strong point in school was math and English. Last year in math I did come across with a subject I could not grasp on my own. At that point, I decided to talk to my teacher for help. I stayed after class and made an appointment to stay after school one day so she could explain the topic more thoroughly. We went through the steps and made our way through practice equations. In class, we would have bell ringers that would involve what we were working on. You have to stay concentrated on the topic, and give it your full attention. I practiced on my own as well. Practicing on your own is a great way to tell how much you have really retained. When I struggled in Science, I would read over my notes a lot and really pay attention when my teacher gave up tips to remembering things. You lose around forty percent of what you learned that day when you go to bed. Because of that, you should use repetition to memorize what you need to know. Repeat it and or read over information over and over again. In the end, I overcame all my academic struggles. All it takes is a little extra time, dedication, perseverance, and confidence and you will get through it all! Take advantage of the opportunities given to you. A lot of teachers have no problem with giving their students the extra help they need to pass their class and be successful. Do not be afraid to ask for direction if you are lost and cannot wrap your head around what they are trying to teach you. It is better for you to ask than to fail!
