A time when I struggled with a subject was when I was in English 3. English has always been a struggle for me sense we have to actually think and write about our lives, feels or experiences. We had a 700 word essay to write about how my personal life changed who I am today. First of all I was like “no way! I am not going to shared my personal life and background with my teacher!” I never talked about my past with anyone except my best friend because she could somewhat relate to my story. I’m not the type of person to just put my business out on the front line when someone ask or when it becomes a topic, but I knew this was going to be a big grade in class so it was either do or don’t. Most people don’t understand why I never talk about it but it’s because my past wasn’t the prettiest…I didn’t grow up with luxurious things or a silver spoon, which is what people probably expect from me sense I dress so classy and honorable. But no, I’m not the richest but I’m not the poorest, there are some things I appreciate to have now, that I didn’t have before while growing up. How I overcame my struggle was by talking to my friend and family members asking “how could I write a personal essay without giving out to much information but also making it only 700 words?” They all said “write the full essay include everything, then re-read you passage over and over until you start to notice the some of the things you can take out. I seriously didn’t even think of that at all, but just for asking my peers I’ve found out better ways to overcome my essay. Re-reading things to understand and see what you have misspelled or left out was so helpful, my teacher also looked over it as I keep editing once in a while. When you’re a shy and nervous person like me you might find it embarrassing or hard to ask people for help, but if you are truly just spaced out and don’t know what to do and people are willing to help, you should definitely take them up on the offer. Helping others goes a long way and it’s probably the best resource someone can do. I overcame my struggle in English and my essay by just simply asking for the help I knew I wanted and needed.
