My major is Public Health Science as one of the requirements course for the major I had to take Elementary Calculus 1 or Math220. Elementary Calculus 1 was one of the classes I attended so miserable and I felt so dreadful after the class was over. I would always come to class roughly 10 to 15 minutes early so I can sit in the front row. I would always hand write all my notes in class, I had an entire notebook dedicated to my calculus class. I never missed one class and I still felt lost each time he started teaching. I remember students will correct the professor on his mistakes. I looked extremely lost since I could not catch the mistakes that he made. The class had weekly quizzes in discussion and usually, I would do so poorly. I only received a couple of A’s and B’s while the rest was not so good. I already knew by the time I finished taking my first exam that I need get a tutor immediately. I had to do something about not understanding math before I decide to drop out of college. I went through multiple math tutoring programs until I found the most amazing tutor. My tutor named was Bridgette, she worked for a program called AAP (Academic Achievement Program), that provided tutors for free to students. She was one of best tutor I ever had, she explained the concepts so well, and I almost cried because she was so amazing. However, I did not rely only on Bridgette in order to succeed in Math220. I started going to all of my professor office hours. My professor named Mr.Washington will practically see my face almost three each day. While I was going to my professor office hours, I also went to my TA (Tutoring Assistant) office hours, especially since he graded the quizzes. Some of the professors and TAs will like to give some points back on exams and quizzes if they see that the student is trying with the problems. I tried so hard that semester, I had to sacrifice going to events with my friends in order to maintain at least a B average in the class. It did not take until one bad grade in order to step up everything I had to offer in order to be successful in that class.
