One of my biggest goals was to learn how to manage my time wisely. I always struggled with spending my time wisely, I was a huge fan of procrastination, if not the master of it. Not only did I have a passion for procrastinating, but I also got very distracted easily. I got so distracted to the point that I would work on a school assignment and then decide I was hungry. This would result in at least a thirty minute delay in which I would go on a hunt to find a hearty meal, savor my meal, and then go on my phone. My days of wasting time eventually came to a close. While I do love wasting time, I cannot stand doing nothing. As a result, I take on way too many commitments to spend my time. My normal schedule includes going to school, eating lunch, babysitting or volunteering, mock trial practice or coaching soccer, and then going to my own soccer practice, and then coming home to start my homework. My schedule was so hectic that I would not get home until nine o’clock every night to start homework. My hectic schedule only made procrastination more difficult. I started to become extremely stressed; I was struggling to complete my homework and studies while also maintaining all of my commitments. I was able to find gaps within my schedule. My crazy schedule allowed me to see that it was time to change. I learned how to complete all of my homework assignments during my free period at school so I would not have to stress about their completion. I was also able to identify gaps within my schedule where I realized that I could study between each commitment. Because my volunteering required multi-tasking at its finest, watching multiple children while also cleaning up after them, I learned how to master the art of multi-tasking, completing all of my assignments while also keeping up with my commitments. I learned to manage my time much better so that I was no longer struggling to do my homework in time and instead, I always had multiple assignments completed in advance. My overloaded schedule outside of school helped me accomplish my goal of learning to manage my time wisely.
