My friend and I started from the ground up and create our high school’s first student led drama department. We knew it would be extremely difficult to achieve, but we knew if we had enough determination than anything was possible. When knew we would have to do many fundraisers to obtain money for the spring musical. We started in October of twenty sixteen and we were able to raise over five thousand dollars in just under six months. I had to put into use many of the skills I had learned such as planning, money management, encouragement, teamwork, and of course leadership. I had to work with my co-president to plan as many as four fundraisers per month. We had to be able to manage our money well enough to make a profit each month. We would both have to encourage our fellow drama students to keep pushing through each month. I also had to encourage them when we were performing as well as beforehand. I had to use teamwork most of the time when we had group activities and large parties of people trying to do one fundraiser. Although the skill I had to use most often throughout this whole endeavor was leadership. I had to manage fifty-five students through car washes, garage sales, bake sales, and talent shows. By using these skills, I had learned I was able to accomplish my goal of putting on our school’s twenty-seventeen spring musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. This experience changed all our lives forever. I couldn’t have done any of it without the help of the skills I had achieved throughout my years of school and life. Growing up as a set of triplets I learned most of these skills early in life. I thank my family and friends for helping me learn these many important lessons and skills.
