One of the biggest problems that students have both outside and inside the classroom is not being able to manage their time. Throughout my years being in school, I have used this skill, making the most productive and proactive me that I can be. This skill has been taught to me throughout my life by my mother. She taught me how to plan for everything, driving-time, breaks, etc. Time management has given me more opportunities to advance myself mentally physically, and even emotionally.
My mother taught me this skill when I was about five or six years old. Whenever we had someplace to be, my mother was always there, reminding us how much time we had left, when we should leave, about what time we would be back home etc. Another thing that I have learned from my skill, is how to “ballpark.” I can guess about how much time something would take, or about what time I would arrive at certain events, if schedules changed.
Believe it or not, this skill has been very handy throughout my high school career. Specifically, when it comes to extracurricular activities, most notably, Beta Club volunteer work. One of my goals for high school, is to remain in Beta Club when I graduate. I have been and still am, a member for the past four years, and this is because I have been able to plan and manage my activities and time. Some of the volunteer activities that I participate in is our local Humane Society, our resident retirement home, local school functions, Military functions, etc. My time management skill has allowed me to participate in these functions and more! I am one of about 70 high school seniors that are still in Beta Club. This is because I have used my skill to coordinate my time and other activities to fit my Beta Club requirements. Time management is an essential skill for everybody. Once learned, anybody can become a more productive and proactive person.
