We all have subjects that we’re not really good at which can hold us back from having good academic progress but its up to us to make a change and never let anything stop us from achieving our goals. I’ve struggled with a few subjects in school but the subject that I struggled with the most was math. I disliked math so much and thought that I would never be good at it. Hearing the words, multiplication, division, fractions, and calculations would give me a headache. It would get really stressful when teachers would call on me to solve a math problem on the board knowing that my math skills are very weak.

I never had an A+ in math and the highest grade that I got was a B+. There were many times where that subject held me back from making it to the honor roll and having a high score on the ACT/SAT. I knew that if I wanted to make it to the honor roll, pass my exams successfully, and maintain a decent G.P.A., I would have to come up with different strategies that will help me overcome my struggles with math. The first thing I did to overcome this problem was attend the free tutoring service the my school offered everyday after school. Tutoring have always been something that I disliked because it took away my free time but I realized that if you want to succeed, you have to have to work hard and sacrifice your fun. Besides tutoring, I would study on my own to retain the knowledge that I received and practice which makes you a lot better at what you’re doing.

Ever since I started tutoring, I got a lot better at math and was sometimes able to work on problems without any assistance. My grades improved and I did a lot better at my exams. I never thought that I would get better at math until I started attending tutoring. I would advise anyone who is struggling with a subject to take advantage if the free tutoring that is being offered at schools and also study on your free time because these two can make a big difference.
